Corporate Social Responsibility
Warners strong community ethos comes from being a family-owned business. There are three key elements to the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility policy. Each of the elements are inter-related and are close to the heart of Warners and the way it operates and does business:
- Workforce: Warners has provided employment for generations of families for over 80 years. Half of Warners employees have worked for the company for ten years or more. Warners is a workplace to be proud of, where dedication is recognised and rewarded, where employees are encouraged to excel and where strong family traditions make everyone feel welcome and valued.
- Environment: Warners recognises that it has a considerable responsibility for making the environment in and around its site safer, healthier and greener. In 2005 Warners achieved ISO 14001:2004 accreditation and, in 2007, it opened a new press hall housing a £10m web-offset printing press which uses some of the most advanced environmentally friendly practises available. Warners currently has major company-wide initiatives to reduce energy usage, to promote recycling and waste management and to protect the natural environment of its site.
- Community: Warners understands the need to enrich the community and to ensure its existence benefits its neighbours in the community. Bourne in Lincolnshire has been Warners home for more than 80 years and it occupies a ten-acre site in the heart of the town. 70 per cent of Warners employees live within five miles of the site which means that the working, social and family lives of all our employees are intrinsically connected with the Bourne community. Employees are encouraged to pursue voluntary activities and the company supports local causes - from financial donations, free design and print work, to sponsorship of local events and support of local schools and colleges.
