Bourne printer scoops top CSR award at National Business Award regional finals in Birmingham

Warners Midlands PLC won the coveted Corporate Social Responsibility Award in the Midlands and East of England heat of the 2008 National Business Awards. The Managing Director of Warners Midlands PLC, Philip Warner, was presented with the top award at a glittering dinner at The National Motorcycle Museum in Birmingham. The Bourne-based printer beat-off stiff competition from Building Blocks Solutions, Luminus Group and Norfolk County Council. Warners Midlands PLC secured the judges' votes with its strong community ethos. The company has retained 50 per cent of its 300 employees for 10 years or more through reward and recognition schemes with a strong focus on family traditions. The judges said they were impressed by Warners' company-wide schemes to reduce energy usage, promote recycling and waste management. Judges recognised that these initiatives are central to the day-to-day running of the business and they also applauded Warners for offering free use of its 10-acre work site to local schools and the police. Adrian Green, Partner, Hymans Robertson LLP and Midlands and East of England judge said: “We congratulate Warners Midlands PLC on winning the Hymans Robertson Corporate Social Responsibility Award. All the nominees in this category demonstrate a drive, passion and optimism for business, and congratulations should go to all those who reached the shortlisted stage.”The National Business Awards, sponsored by Orange, recognise and reward excellence, innovation and success. Uniquely open to organisations of all sizes and from any industry sector – public or private – the best of British businesses are able to showcase their achievements and benchmark their successes against firms and bodies of all types.
