Over the last year we have seen a marked increase in the number of our customers using our biodegradable starch films when mailing their magazine, catalogue or brochure with us. We have seen the amount of this film used triple as the use of conventional polywrap has decreased. We also now have 35 regular titles including weekly magazines using this starch based wrap!
As a company that prides itself on our continuing mission to minimise our effect on the environment we see this as a very positive step. this greatly compliments the great work we are already doing. We are very proud that our current plant recycling rate is 99.98% and we send 0 waste to landfill! To see what we do please visit our Environmental Activities page
We offer alternatives to conventional plastic wrap for mailings and there are also additional outsourced services available to or customers too. As time goes on and as new technologies and materials become available we will be investigating each option very carefully to ensure that it adds benefit to our customers and the environment. This is all part of our continuous mission to minimise the use of plastic, energy and waste on our site.
Earlier this year we prepared this short guide to the plastic used on site in the mailing of our customers products. Please follow the link to our Plastic Packaging page.
In other news our solar panel array has generated 55,994 Kwh of electricity between 11/12/18 to 10/06/19 and we are looking forward to what the British summer can add when it arrives!
If you hadn't heard the news yet we are also in the process of building our new factory. This factory will house a more energy efficient press and we will be retiring one of our older pieces of equipment. We have the first look at our new machine in last weeks post which can be found here: https://www.warners.co.uk/blog/first-look-at-new-press-and-factory-update
